Let's get real. "Life is hard. We need to remember that more often," a dear friend of mine told me the other day.
I'm a real person who has been trained as a therapist for children and adults for the last 27 years. Although I presently am not seeing children, my experience has taught me how to support individuals with concrete, clear guidance. We tackle things like Life Adjustment Issues, Big Feelings, Grief and Loss, Parenting, Relationship Challenges, Trauma, Anxiety, Depression, Learning Challenges, and Coping with Difficult Life Circumstances.
And, my clients are the most amazing people. They are brave and scared, strong and fragile, ambivalent and human. They want something different in their lives.
I am somebody's daughter, somebody's wife, somebody's mother. I am somebody's sister, somebody's friend, somebody's step mother. I am somebody's niece, somebody's coworker, somebody's neighbor and somebody's mother in law, and somebody's grandmother. I have many years of schooling both from Pacific Lutheran University (BA in Communication Arts) and from Antioch University, Seattle (MA in Counseling Psychology). I have learned what comes from books but also from the roles I play in life. Life has taught me so much and I continue to learn each day.
I feel very fortunate to earn my living being somebody's therapist. I have the honor to listen to many life stories each week.
You're different. You are you. And you are somebody's mom, dad, sister, brother, friend, partner too. You have an opportunity not to just be listened to and heard but to also shape the kind of help you want. Orienting your care with exactly where you are in life is key to finding and receiving good therapeutic care.
Therapy means working together. I provide straightforward, compassionate and practical support that is effective. I whole-heartedly hold the hope that change is possible and that the deepest and most powerful change starts on the inside. You provide starting exactly where you are now.
My fee for the initial assessment session is $150.00. My fee for regular sessions—50 minutes in length—is $130.00. Payment, or insurance co-payment, is due at the end of each appointment and I accept cash, check or Visa/Mastercard.
Please know when you schedule an appointment with me, you are reserving that time for yourself. If you are late for your session, the session will end on time. If you cancel an appointment with more than 24 hours' notice, this allows your therapist time to fill the space, and you are not charged. If you cancel with less than 24 hours' notice, you will be responsible for paying for the missed appointment at our next session. Similarly, if you miss your session completely, you will still be responsible for paying for the time, and payment will be due at the beginning of the next session. Insurance does not cover the cost of missed appointments.
If your emergency involves imminent risk to yourself or to someone else, call 9-1-1 immediately, or contact the crisis line at (206) 461-3222.
If you are a current client please leave me a voice message (206) 683-8625 and state that your message is urgent. I check my voice mail regularly and will call you back as soon as possible.
If you need to speak with someone immediately, call the crisis line after leaving your psychologist a message.
I am a licensed mental health therapist with Washington State since 2001 (#6558).
Our world is changing during this pandemic and we have had to adapt. Adapting can be really hard and take some time to get use to. Change is definitely a process.
